Registration Opens for New Mexico’s Centennial Town Hall
Event to Focus on Education, Economy, Health, and Energy
New Mexico First, a statewide public policy organization announced that its 2012 statewide town hall will celebrate 100 years of statehood, while addressing the future of New Mexico by calling on participants to develop their best public policy ideas for making progress. The New Mexico Centennial Town Hall will be held in Albuquerque March 22-23.
Heather Balas, New Mexico First’s President and Executive Director, noted, “This is an exciting event, because New Mexicans will come together to identify our state’s greatest strengths and weakness, and develop a concrete platform of policy recommendations that will lead to a better New Mexico.”
Because the organization is releasing its New Mexico Progress Report this month on education, the economy, health, and energy, Balas anticipates that many of the town hall recommendations will focus on those areas.
All community members are invited to participate in this two-day town hall where participants will explore the state’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and treats, and identify urgent needs that will have the greatest influence on the future of the state, and put forth their best ideas for making progress.
