Overview
Moderated by ABC newsman Sam Donaldson, the event’s keynote speaker was Cokie Roberts, veteran Capitol Hill reporter and observer from ABC and NPR. She discussed the condition of our nation’s democracy, the impact of partisan struggles on our country’s toughest policy issues, and strategies for bringing Americans together.
Sam Donaldson, a 38-year ABC News veteran, was chief White House correspondent for ABC News, covering Presidents Carter, Reagan and Clinton. Since joining ABC News in 1967 as a Capitol Hill correspondent, Mr. Donaldson has covered major events ranging from Watergate to the Gulf War. He continues to work as a news correspondent. He is also a New Mexico rancher.
Cokie Roberts, an Emmy award-winning journalist, has been honored for excellence in covering politics, Congress, and public policy. Ms. Roberts is senior news analyst for NPR, and she serves as a political commentator for ABC News. Ms. Roberts was co-anchor of the ABC News program This Week with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts, while also serving as chief congressional analyst for ABC News. She is also a best -selling author of multiple books. Most recently, she and her husband, Steven V. Roberts, co-authored Our Haggadah: Uniting Traditions for Interfaith Families.
