Town Hall to Address Transportation Needs for New Mexicans
ALBUQUERQUE, NM, August 6, 2008 -- New Mexico First, a nonpartisan organization formed by U.S. Senators Pete Domenici and Jeff Bingaman in 1986 will facilitate Sustainable Transportation: Paying Our Way From Here to There at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort at Santa Ana Pueblo starting tomorrow, August 7-9.
New Mexico’s transportation infrastructure is vital to the state’s economic prosperity and integral to the quality of life, health, and welfare of our citizens. Both federal and state transportation revenue has notbeen sufficient to keep up with inflation, the rising cost of construction, and the demands for transportationservices of a growing population.
These issues and others will be addressed at the town hall convened by the New Mexico Department of Transportation and the New Mexico Association of Regional Governments (NewMARC). The event invites people from all regions of the state to discuss the issues and to develop recommendations for policymakers, community leaders, and concerned citizens.
